Forum Theatre for addressing bullying in Finnish schools
In our project Flip The Script, Forum Theatre is used as a social psychological and creative method, an inclusive and multidisciplinary approach for addressing bullying with secondary school students.
Forum theatre isc created by Augusto Boal as part of his “Theatre of the Oppressed,” this interactive theatrical form empowers participants to explore difficult social situations and practice different responses, by taking different perspectives and roles. We find this to be a holistic and effective way of dealing with the problem of bullying, its psychological, as well as social causes and effects, including perpetrators and victims of bullying.
The project is administered by Armas Creative cooperative and is run by a creative team consisting of a theatre professional, philosopher, coordinator, an actors and a video/projection maker.
